KeptInFlow in ChatGPT: Privacy
Last updated: September 30, 2026
This page covers KeptInFlow in ChatGPT: the connection that lets ChatGPT, on the web, on your phone or on the desktop, read what the KeptInFlow app has saved on your Windows PC. Everything else the app does is covered by our main Privacy Policy.
The short version
It is off until you connect it. When you ask ChatGPT a question that needs something KeptInFlow saved, ChatGPT asks the app on your PC for it, and the app sends back only that item. It passes through a relay we run and goes to ChatGPT. The relay does not keep it. ChatGPT can read, never change: it cannot delete, edit, record, type or open anything on your PC. Turn it off or disconnect ChatGPT at any time in KeptInFlow Settings, ChatGPT.
What ChatGPT can read
Only what KeptInFlow already saved on your PC, and only while the app is running there:
- Meetings you recorded: the title, when it happened, how long it ran, and the transcript with speaker names.
- Captures: text you copied, and the text read out of snips you took, with the time and the window it came from. Images themselves are never sent, only their text.
- Notes: your notes and AI chats in KeptInFlow, with their titles and every turn.
- Screen Memory, if you turned it on in KeptInFlow: the text seen on your screen, with the time, the app, the window title and the page address. Screen pictures are never sent.
It cannot reach your API keys, your license, your settings, your files, or anything KeptInFlow did not save. Actions that control the app, such as starting a recording, are not available through ChatGPT at all.
Why it is read
To answer the question you asked in ChatGPT: what was decided in a call, a follow-up email from a meeting, the address you copied yesterday. Nothing is read in the background. ChatGPT asks for an item when your conversation needs one, and the app answers that one request.
Who receives it
- OpenAI receives the items ChatGPT reads, as part of your ChatGPT conversation. From then on OpenAI handles them under OpenAI's privacy policy and your ChatGPT data settings, the same as anything else you share in a chat.
- Our relay, which we run on Cloudflare, carries each request from ChatGPT to your PC and each answer back. Your PC connects out to it, so nothing on the internet can connect in to your PC.
No one else receives it. We do not read it, sell it, share it, or use it to train anything.
What our relay keeps
A request and its answer are held in memory only while they are on their way, at most 25 seconds, and are never written to storage or to logs. Request logging is off. What the relay does store is only what it needs to know which PC a ChatGPT connection belongs to:
- A pairing code and which PC it belongs to, for 10 minutes. It is deleted the moment it is used, or when it expires.
- For each PC: an anonymous id made from a random key created on your PC (the key stays in Windows' own password store), a number that goes up each time you unpair, when it was paired, when it was last used, and the name the connecting app gave (usually "ChatGPT").
- For each ChatGPT connection: a random id, a renewal count, and when it expires, so a stolen sign-in cannot be reused.
- Meeting-ended notices, if ChatGPT asks for them: the web address ChatGPT gave for receiving them, the secret used to sign them, and when that request expires. Each notice carries only the meeting's title, id, end time and length. The transcript itself is read only through a normal request, like any other item.
The relay also sees your IP address and uses it, in memory, to limit how many requests one address can make. It is not stored. We never learn your name or email: there is no account.
Your controls
- Off by default. Nothing is reachable until you turn it on in KeptInFlow Settings, ChatGPT, and enter the short code it shows into ChatGPT.
- Unpair in the same place ends every ChatGPT connection at once. ChatGPT has to be connected again with a new code.
- Turn it off and ChatGPT is told that access is turned off on your PC. Nothing is read.
- When your PC is off or KeptInFlow is closed, ChatGPT is told KeptInFlow isn't running, and nothing can be read.
- Delete an item in KeptInFlow and ChatGPT can no longer read it. Anything ChatGPT already read stays in that chat until you delete the chat in ChatGPT.
- You can also remove KeptInFlow from ChatGPT in ChatGPT's own settings.
No tracking, no selling
This connection adds no ads, no tracking and no profiling. We do not sell or rent anything it carries. The relay keeps no record of what you asked or what was sent.
Children
KeptInFlow and its ChatGPT connection are meant for people 13 and older and are not directed at children under 13.
Changes
If what the connection reads or what the relay keeps changes, we will update this page and the date at the top before the change ships.
