Fix text copied from a PDF
Copy text out of a PDF and every line ends mid-sentence. Paste it here and get it back with the broken lines joined and the real paragraphs kept. It runs in your browser. Nothing is uploaded.
Before you ask
Questions, answered.
Why does text copied from a PDF have broken lines?
A PDF stores each line of a page as its own piece, placed where it should sit on the page. It does not remember where a paragraph starts. When you copy, every line comes out with a line break at the end, even in the middle of a sentence.
Does my text leave my computer?
No. The fixing happens in your browser, on this page. Your text is not uploaded, saved, or sent anywhere, and you do not need an account.
How do I remove line breaks but keep paragraphs?
Paste your text in the left box. Blank lines between paragraphs are kept, and the single line breaks inside a paragraph are joined. Lists and numbered items stay on their own lines. With Keep headings and short lines on, a short line before a capitalized line also stays apart.
How do I fix words split by a hyphen at the end of a line?
Leave Rejoin words split by a hyphen on. A word like infor- and mation becomes information when the next line starts with a lowercase letter. A real hyphen before a capital, like Smith-Jones, is kept. Turn the option off if your text has many real hyphens at line ends.
Does it work on a phone?
Yes. Paste into the first box, and the fixed text shows right below it. Tap Copy result to copy it. If the Paste button is blocked on your phone, press and hold in the box and choose Paste.
